Krewe d'Amusement

Acadiana's Amazing, Amuse-ical Krewe

Annual Events

Krewe d'Amusement hosts three main events during the year. These include Socials, a Ball and a Parade.

Our Socials are a number of fun, casual activities planned for the children to meet and get to know each other. Some are planned for the Pre-K through fourth graders, while others are planned for the fifth through eighth graders. During 2009, we held a Character Social at Chck E Cheese. Royalty members enjoyed a Swim Social with water volleyball. In October, the children and their parents and friends enjoyed a Bingo/Dessert Social at Oakbourne Country Club.

The Spectacular Ball is held on a Saturday in January. Children rehearse on Saturday morning and are presented in the Ball on the same evening. Older children portray Royalty, while younger children portray characters which convey the year's chosen theme. Following the Ball is a dinner and dance party, a nice reward for the children!

The Parade is a highlight for our member children. It is held on the Saturday afternoon of Mardi Gras weekend here in Lafayette. This year, our eighth grade kings and queens rode on convertibles. The rest of our children, from ages 3 to 13, filled five fabulous floats.
